The Language Guesthouse provides a concept of immersion teaching adapted to the individual requirements of adult learners, business executives, families or language learners of the 50plus generation.

Location and Surroundings: The Language Guesthouse is located in the small town Vogtsburg amidst the winegrowing and recreation area Kaiserstuhl - part of the Breisgau district in southwestern Germany. The Breisgau area stretches from the Black Forest to the Rhine River. The landscape varies, with mountains, hills, lowlands, and water. Wine and fruit are cultivated in the foothills of the Black Forest and on the slopes of Tuniberg and Kaiserstuhl hills. The Kaiserstuhl hills were formed from volcanoes, their climate is the warmest in Germany. Not only do grapes grow here: Many gardens include peaches, apricots, almonds, and figs. The "capital" of Breisgau is the city of Freiburg (220,000 inh). It has a picturesque, medieval centre and one of the oldest and most reputable German universities. However, Freiburg's landmark is the Gothic cathedral. Its tower has been praised as the most beautiful tower in Christianity". The entire region has a high recreational value and enjoys an excellent reputation with visitors from Germany and abroad.

Accommodation and Meals: Accommodation at the Language Guesthouse is a Bed & Breakfast house in a small family-like setting together with other students of German language and/or international tourist guests. Students can choose between several accommodation options (guest rooms of different size or a comfortable apartment) and different meal programs (breakfast, half or full board, self catering in the apartment only) in company with their language trainer.

Course Options: One-to-one classes are standard at the Language Guesthouse. They are ideal for all those who are willing to study intensively and make good progress in a limited period of time. They are ideal too for those with special requirements or special preconditions of learning or maybe special disabilities (e.g. dyslexia). In our individual lessons the student sets the pace of progress. His type of learning, her personal interests, strengths and weaknesses are the prerequisites tuition will be attuned to. Fast learners make fast progress; those who need more time won't come under pressure. The student's aim is the teacher's task, whether the point is to close some gap in grammar knowledge, to improve oral or written expression, to acquire the terminology of technical language or to pass a language exam, whether you need German skills for your job, your academic studies or your upcoming vacation. Besides, individual programs for couples, families, small groups and special parent-child programs are offered. Different course packages and a free "you select" program offer choices between 10 and 30 weekly hours of language tuition and between 0 and 15 hours of activity.

Active+Creative Program: A program of cultural, sightseeing or creative in-house activities, shared with the language trainer and maybe other guests complements the language classes. This Active+Creative Program is offered as a get-together of speaking and action in real but still teacher supported communication. It is conducive to practice new acquired language structures up to a confident mastery and active application. An experienced language trainer adapts her speaking to the student's level of understanding. You will make the experience to understand German from the first day and you will be encouraged to speak German from the first day.

Optional and business offer:
- Subject specific language classes (business, technology, science, medicine)
- Specific training on intercultural business communication
- Language exam training
- Arrangement of participation in local sports, cultural or leisure time activities, especially for students taking programs longer than 3 weeks.

Early bookers of 2012 language programs who send their registration to the Language Guesthouse until November, 30th, 2011 will get their program at 2011 rates!!

Tests and Certificates: The Language Guesthouse follows the standards of the European framework of reference for languages and offers tuition at any level from "beginner" (A0/A1) to "nearly native speaker" (C2).

The LG offers: A free placement test at the beginning of each language or conversation program
- Exam preparation: This means a language program, intending to achieve a level of knowledge which is required to pass one of the established German language exams
- Exam training: A short course, working with authentic exam papers. The focus is set upon an optimal strategy to deal with exam requirements, i.e. the type of exam questions, time and exam stress management etc
- Internal final tests or mock exams at the end of a language program/ exam training are offered on request. - A Certificate of Attendance is offered on request.
- The LG does not offer or conduct formally recognized language exams and certificates.These are held by the responsible institutions, e.g. Goethe-Institut, TestDaF-Institut or German universities.

Highlights

The highlights at the Language Guesthouse are different for each guest and student, depending on their personal interests and favorites.

The Breisgau region offers a broad range of opportunities: all sorts of sport facilities, cultural events, museums, traditional festivals, tourist attractions, picturesque villages, historic towns and last but not least a beautiful nature.

Some students enjoy a summer evening barbecue party at the Language Guesthouse's large balcony; a picnic on top of one of our surrounding hills; a cellar visit and wine-tasting at one of the big wineries in our neighborhood; or evenings of handicraft working on typical German Christmas decoration, cookery and bakery of typical German dishes.

The greatest highlight is to discover one's own improvement of communication skills and loss of self-consciousness while speaking German in a German setting.

Program Fees Include:

Included in the given prices for language students are learning matierials, use of learning ressources and house facilities (washing machine, wireless LAN internet connection, guests' computer, bicycles, house library), beverages (coffee, tea, mineral water).

Discounts are given for longer (3 weeks and more) language trainings and for group and family programs
