  • Description

Volunteers will be building homes mostly for families who are migrant workers or day laborers. In a desperate search for work, they came to this area from other parts of Peru, particularly the Andes. Unable to earn enough for decent homes, they live in structures made of reed panels among the sand dunes in the region. The volunteer work for the new homes being constructed involves making and pouring lots of concrete, rebar, digging holes, moving construction materials, piling brick and more.

  • Highlights

Having the opportunity to immerse yourself in a different culture and work side by side with local families who are in need of decent, simple housing. You get to experience the joy of giving a family a light of hope by providing them with a home and helping them take a step towards a better life! While our work site is an active construction zone, it is also an active neighborhood with many families kids which you will have the opportunity to get interact with and get to know. You will also have one day of the week in which you can rest or go sight seeing. Local sight-seeing opportunities include horseback riding, white water rafting, ancient sites (Inca ruins), local open-air markets, cultural folk music and dance programs and Nazca Lines.
