  • Description

Volunteers will go on 1-2 week trips to help build highly earthquake and hurricane resistant homes in sustainable communities for families living in tents since the earthquake. Volunteers work with the Fuller Center for Housing to lay block, clear rubble, apply stucco, cut rebar, mix concrete, or other tasks. No skills required - volunteers are instructed in tasks within their skill level. Every job is important.

Other community and cultural experiences, like visiting orphanages and a tent camp, are included.

The Fuller Center Global Builders program also sends teams to Armenia, El Salvador, and Peru.

  • Highlights

Having the opportunity to immerse yourself in a different culture and work side by side with local families who are in need of decent, simple housing. You get to experience the joy of giving a family a beacon of hope by providing them with a home and helping them take a step towards a better life! While our work site is an active construction zone, it is also an active neighborhood with many families kids which you will have the opportunity to get interact with and get to know. For groups interested in ministering to children, there is an orphanage nearby as well as a tent camp with whom we have a relationship next to some of the land we are building on. Some groups have chosen to have little soccer camps or VBS-type activities. A beach trip for groups looking to relax is also an option.

  • Qualifications

We welcome Global Builder volunteers ages 18+ and of all skill levels. Foreign-language skills are not necessary. We accept all who have a willingness to serve!

Volunteers can sign up as individuals as part of our open teams with experienced trip leaders, or those able to bring a minimum team size of 8 can schedule their own trip with us.
