  • Description

The Education Abroad Network currently offers several types of study abroad internship placements for students and individuals interested in gaining valuable work experience in Australia.

    * Full-time internships for a semester, summer or other period where you pick your own dates.
    * Part-time internship in conjunction with an academic or work abroad program.

The Education Abroad Network's Internship Program will give students and recent graduates entry into Australia's leading organizations and ensure that they receive training compatible with their employment and/or educational history. Optional academic credit through U.S. and Australian universities are available for all study abroad internships. Due to Australian Immigration regulations, paid internships are rarely offered for non-Australian citizens.

Students may participate in the Group Intake Internship Program with set intake dates and program durations throughout the year, or choose an Independent Program with their own dates from four to 52 weeks. The most common study abroad internship placements for past participants have been six, 12 and 20 weeks.

  • Highlights

    * Wide variety of academic disciplines (includes optional academic credit)
    * Available in most major cities from coast to coast
    * Includes fully furnished, pre-arranged housing
    * Offered throughout the calendar year - from 4 to 52 weeks

    Housing options include:

    1. Sydney Premier Apartments
These exceptional units are located close to public transportation for easy commuting around Sydney, including the central business district where most placements are located and the top local beaches for weekend relaxation. Each apartment has been spaciously designed with high-quality fittings including a full-sized equipped kitchenette with granite bench tops and microwave, internal laundry with washing machine and dryer, large dining/lounge areas, enclosed balcony, television, CD player, cable TV, telephone and voice mail. In addition, the units are serviced (e.g. cleaned and towel/linens changed) weekly by on-site housekeeping.

    2. Other Study Australia Housing
These fully furnished apartments and houses are located in most major cities throughout Australia and available to most Group Intake interns. In some instances, interns will share these units with other Study Australia participants studying at an Australian university.

    3. Home-Stay with Australian Family
You may choose to live in a home-stay with an Australian family, with meals provided. Students are expected to be 'one of the family' and participate in household chores and activities. The costs range from USD 175 - USD 250 per week.

    4. Arrange Own Accommodation
Some interns choose to find their own accommodation upon arrival in Australia so they can find housing that is the 'best fit' for their own personal taste, cost and preferred location. Study Australia can assist by providing information on local Real Estate Agents, however, students will be responsible for securing their own accommodation for the period of their internship/stay in Australia. The weekly cost varies considerably based on location, duration of stay and quality.

  • Qualifications

All applicants are expected to have an appropriate academic background related to the placement duties. The amount of required coursework will vary for each placement. Generally speaking students who have completed at least two years of university and have grade point averages above 2.5 will be eligible for most internships. Other students are encouraged to apply as many other (non-academic) factors are taken into consideration.
