Spanish Studies Abroad offers high school students the unique opportunity to engage in Spanish culture and language while obtaining college-level credit, living in a homestay, and discovering the beautiful Mediterranean city of Alicante. High school students may enroll in a gap semester/academic year through our Intermediate & Advanced Spanish Studies with Local Students at the intermediate or advanced Spanish language level.

The goal of all Spanish Studies Abroad Programs in Alicante is to guide you to live as a member of alicantino culture, while gaining a profound understanding of your surroundings. Courses designed for international student learning Spanish and access to abundant cultural resources, workshops, and activities allow you to more fully integrate into campus life at Universidad de Alicante.

Alicante, the jewel of the Costa Blanca, is a charming harbor city that is both tranquil in its coastal climate and vibrant with modern Spanish life. The culture, architecture, language, and people have all been shaped by the regions rich history of sea merchants and conquerors.

Spanish Studies students in Alicante study onsite at Universidad de Alicante, twenty minutes outside of the city's center. Established in 1979 to carry on the traditions and academic integrity of its predecessor, Universidad de Orihuela (1545-1834), UA is one of the most innovative and modern universities in Spain. Students enjoy the convenience of modern classrooms and facilities on a campus of green lawns and Mediterranean gardens.

Through university coursework, homestays with native families, and multiple cross-cultural opportunities, students will find Spanish Studies in Alicante to be a highly immersive and integrated study abroad experience.

Program Fees Include:

Spanish Studies Abroad program fees include tuition, room & board, meals, support of the onsite Resident Director, predeparture support, laundry, overnight and local study visits, cultural activities, orientation, health insurance, computer access, and a Spanish Studies transcript. Optional trips and activities are also available through Universidad de Alicante's office for international students.
