  • Description

    Gain professional experience through the CC-CS Semester Internship in Seville, Spain. This program is specifically designed for you to experience Spanish work culture in a field that matches your professional goals and interests. The program structure enriches your integration into Sevillano work culture by providing you with the linguistic and cultural tools necessary for you to meaningfully contribute to your host business or organization.

    Because the Semester Internship is aligned with CC-CS Advanced Spanish Studies, you will benefit from the cultural guidance and resources that define CC-CS programming. The Internship consists of 300 hours of field work, plus accompanying coursework, providing you with 8 semester credits. Prior to the internship, you will begin the semester with an initial language intensive period and take one 4-credit language course to help you prepare for your professional experience. Continual guidance throughout the semester is provided through a 1-credit cross-cultural reflection course and the support of the Resident Director and Internship Supervisor. As a semester internship student, you will also have the option to enroll in one 3-credit course through our regular course offerings.

    Similarly, the Summer Internship is aligned with the Seville Summer Term. In this intensive 8-week internship, you will complete 263 hours of work in the field for 7 semester credits. In addition to the internship, you will also complete 15 hours of language training in a 1-credit Spanish for Internship Course during the first two weeks, earning a total of 8 credits.

  • Highlights

    In the Semester Internship, you will benefit from all of the resources available to other CC-CS Seville students attending the semester and summer study abroad programs. The CC-CS Center is located in a historic mansion in the heart of downtown Seville. A beautiful and ancient city on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, Seville has a rich cultural life and is known for its winding Moorish streets, Renaissance gardens, flower-strewn patios, grand architecture, flamenco dancing, and music.

    The Center has been a social and cultural gathering place for both Americans and sevillanos since 1969. Each year, more than two hundred Spaniards study English at the Center and participate in intercambios (language-exchanges) with American students. The Center also actively promotes regular interaction of Spanish and American students by organizing social events and cultural activities such as outings to the theater, festivals and carnivals, art exhibits, concerts of classical and contemporary music, video presentations, and joint fiestas.

    * Ability to understand normal, rapid Spanish; one semester of advanced college Spanish or the equivalent.
    * 3.0 for overall and Spanish GPA, exceptions may be made with strong recommendations from faculty.
    * Academic or experiential preparation in the field.
    * A written application for an internship, approved by the your home institution and received no later than then program application deadline

  • Program Fees Include:

    CC-CS program fees include tuition, room & board, meals, support of the onsite CC-CS staff, predeparture support, laundry, overnight and local study visits, cultural activities, orientation, health insurance, computer access, and a CC-CS transcript. Optional trips and activities are also available through the Center.
