Center for Cross-Cultural Study's (CC-CS) Integrated Spanish Studies with Local Students gives advanced Spanish-level students the unique opportunity to take classes alongside Spanish students at Universidad de Sevilla, while benefiting from the cultural guidance, language tools, and academic quality that defines CC-CS programming. The program integrates thoughtful synthesis of homestays/life in the residencias, study visits, language exchanges, volunteer and other cultural opportunities into the curriculum, so that you may more fully integrate into the sevilllano culture.

The goal of Integrated Spanish Studies with Local Students is to guide you to live as a member of sevillano culture both on campus and in the city, while gaining a profound understanding of your surroundings. A unique intensive period at the Center in Seville prepares you for the challenges of studying in a foreign university and provides you with a base to help you navigate throughout your experience. The Center also houses Advanced Spanish Studies, which is known for its rigorous academic curriculum and attention to the study abroad student's immersion experience.

Highlights

Your academic experience takes place in a historic Spanish mansion in the heart of downtown Seville and at nearby Universidad de Sevilla. A beautiful and ancient city on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, Seville has a rich cultural life and is known for its winding Moorish streets, Renaissance gardens, flower-strewn patios, grand architecture, flamenco dancing, and music.

Although the majority of your classes will be at Universidad de Sevilla, students in Integrated Spanish Studies with Local Students have full access to the resources at the CC-CS Center. The Center has been a social and cultural gathering place for both Americans and sevillanos since 1969. Each year, more than two hundred Spaniards study English at the Center and participate in intercambios (language-exchanges) with American students. The Center also actively promotes regular interaction of Spanish and American students by organizing social events and cultural activities such as outings to the theater, festivals and carnivals, art exhibits, concerts of classical and contemporary music, video presentations, and joint fiestas.

Available volunteer opportunities, service learning projects and internships for qualified students allow students to more fully integrate while giving back to your host community.

Program Fees Include:

CC-CS program fees include tuition, room & board, meals, support of the onsite CC-CS staff, predeparture support, laundry, overnight and local study visits, cultural activities, orientation, health insurance, computer access, and a CC-CS transcript. Optional trips and activities are also available through the Center.

Prerequisite: The successful completion of one semester of advanced college Spanish or the equivalent. Minimum 3.0 for overall GPA and in Spanish coursework; exceptions may be made with strong recommendations from faculty.
