Share |

Location
United States: Manhattan, New York

Length of Position
Between 4 and 10 weeks

  • Description

There is more than one TESOL certification course offered within the city limits of New York, each of which offers a general teaching certificate to students; but there is only one University of Cambridge-accredited CELTA New York.

Offered in Tribeca (in the heart of downtown New York City), Teaching House's CELTA training course is hosted at St. John's University - Manhattan, a large, spacious, and comfortable building with all the facilities you'll require during your training as a CELTA teacher.

  • Highlights

Taking the CELTA in New York offers other advantages, both academic and extracurricular. With access to world-class libraries, museums, music, theater, and lectures, New York City is an educated and educational place; and yet it also offers world-class restaurants, bars, theaters, and cultural attractions. Of all the CELTA USA courses offered, there is not one that can offer the academic and social perks that are available as part of the Teaching House CELTA New York.

In order for you to teach, however, you need students. To fill this need, we recruit students from around New York City, Boston, Miami, Vancouver, and San Diego whose native language is not English; and we offer them free ESL classes. The students you'll be teaching are people who have immigrated here, who are currently living and working here, or who are simply visiting, traveling, and want to get some formal language instruction while they're here. In this way, hours of teaching aren’t paid.
