An excellent opportunity has arisen for Secondary school teachers to join an exciting new project pioneering trilingual education in Kazakhstan. The schools are at a range of locations and run highly specialized classes with a small number of pupils to ensure that everyone gets adequate attention without overloading teaching staff. They offer a very good tax free salary and benefits package. This is for a 1st September start date.
This group of schools are aiming to recruit at least 130 international secondary school teachers for their existing seven schools, which are in the cities of Astana (Physics & Mathematics School) and (Chemistry & Biology School), Semey, Kokshetau, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Taldykorgan and Uralsk.
They will open 3 more schools in 2012-2013, and have twenty schools by 2014 and are recruiting international teachers for these new schools which are all in the provincial cities. Interviews will take place via skype in front of a panel. Teachers will need to do a presentation then a Q/A Session.
Teachers of the following subjects are required:
- English language
- Maths
- Chemistry, Biology, Physics
- Information Technology
- Creative Arts
- Critical Thinking
- History
- Teacher Librarian
- Positions are also available for Team Leaders
A very generous tax-free monthly salary starts at about £2536 upwards plus additional monthly allowances for teachers in regional schools; free accommodation, utility expenses, twice yearly flight allowance, tuition for staff children, medical insurance and more. The cost of living is lower in Kazakhstan than in many western countries so the savings potential is very high.
Kazakhstan have new state funded grammar schools which are trilingual - English, Kazakh and Russian. They seek up to 100 teachers for 2012 - 13 to teach as well as to informally mentor local teachers in the latest teaching methods. The government of Kazakhstan is investing heavily across many sectors of society, including education, and particularly in these new grammar schools. This is your opportunity to be a part of the future of this vibrant, up and coming country as it transforms itself.
The schools prefer teachers with 3+ years of recent, relevant and consistent experience but may consider exemplary teachers with less experience if they are able to demonstrate a very solid educational grounding and strong results. Teachers considering this project need to be professionally and personally self-sufficient, confident and flexible professionals as this is only the second year of this fledgling process; they are looking for pioneers.
Teachers for this project must be up-to-date on modern, interactive teaching methods. Your duties will include conducting classes in English on your specialization, providing local teachers with best practice in your specialization, organizing courses to prepare students for university entrance tests, organizing courses on critical thinking, organizing social and cultural events for the students, being active in your professional association and contributing to curriculum development. It's a big job with similarly big rewards - emotionally, physically and personally.
The Republic of Kazakhstan is an independent sovereign country in Central Asia and the ninth largest country in the world with an area of 2.7 million square kilometers. Rich in oil and other mineral resources, Kazakhstan is a is bordered by Russia, China and the Caspian Sea. Easily the most economically advanced of the 'stans', post-Soviet Kazakhstan is reinventing itself as a uniquely prosperous and modern Eurasian nation. The leafy commercial and social hub, Almaty, has an almost European feel with its quality hotels, slick boutiques, chic cafés and streets thick with BMWs and Mercedes. Astana, in the north, is being transformed at quickfire speed into a 21st-century capital with a unique mix of Western, Soviet and futuristic architecture, including breathtaking buildings designed by top British, Japanese and American architects. Kazakhstan presents an array of surprising adventures. You can trek on foot or horse in the spectacular Tian Shan or Altay Mountains, watch flamingos on steppe lakes or discover underground mosques near the Caspian Sea. Community ecotourism programmes in some of the most beautiful areas enable travellers to stay with village families at affordable cost.
