We are currently inviting volunteers to help us with our Self-sufficient School Project located south of Bolivia.
This role will particularly appeal to volunteers who want to gain a fantastic on-the-ground experience of international development while immersed in a Spanish-speaking environment. This is also a great chance to build up your skills and CV while supporting an international development charity to make education available to some of the world's poorest children.
Colegio Tecnico Argropecuario La Bastilla is the first rural entrepreneurship school in Nicaragua. Hoping to reach financial self-sufficiency by 2014, the school has already set up seven businesses, including a coffee plantation and an ecolodge. The project is set in magical surroundings, and is situated in a Rainforest Alliance-certified area.
No qualifications required. However, an interest in one or more of the following areas is essential:
- Business
- Agriculture
- Teaching
- Sports Coaching
An intermediate level of Spanish is required as none of the students and only two members of staff speak English. This represents an excellent opportunity to improve your Spanish.
Volunteers are expected to cover the cost of their flight, insurance and transfer to the project. Costs range between USD 105-115 per week depending the length of stay. Volunteers also have the option to upgrade their accommodation to stay in the eco-lodge for an additional cost.
