Syracuse University Madrid Center

Location

Spain: Madrid

Description

For over 25 years, Syracuse University has been helping students explore the many faces of Spain. The program is based in Madrid, a modern and fast-paced European capital. It is designed to help you come to know much of Spain as a culture and civilization rich in contrasts.

The program begins with pre-session seminars where students get the change to explore the historical and cultural forces that shaped Spain; embark on a multi-nation tour focused on management, economics, and international relations; or experience a Mediterranean-focused seminar taught in Spanish.

Back in Madrid, you settle in with host families who introduce you to Spanish language and customs. The academic palette covers many fields taught in both Spanish and English and no former Spanish language is required if taking classes at SU's Madrid Center.

For those with higher Spanish proficiency, students have the option of taking some of their classes in Spanish at the Universidad Autonoma or the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid alongside other Madrid students.

Internships at prestigious institutions augment the classes which helps students gain a comparative understanding of the North American and Spanish work environment as they further develop their professional skills. Placements are regularly made in multinational businesses, international organizations, schools, health facilities, media outlets, art galleries, and other sites.
