    Like a jazz composition, this seminar is organized to convey variations and diverse interpretations of its theme: the literature, art and contemporary life of African Americans in Paris during the 20th century and today, and the impact of African American cultural presence on the Paris city scene.

    The seminar's framework allows students to explore the Paris Noir theme from a variety of disciplinary stances, including but not limited to: African American Studies, English and Textual Studies, Politics, Visual and Performing Arts, and Women's Studies.
