StayAway was started as Ethical Encounters by Ras Austin Rizzah in 2008. His vision was to provide everyone the opportunity to travel and explore Africa and, in turn, discover inner potential while becoming part of a community and working together with the locals. The organization re-launched in May 2015 as StayAway Volunteer Travel, a sustainable development charity that offers work exchange and volunteer services around Africa.
We cater to young people and adults (17 years old and above) taking a career break, gap year, time out from school, retirement, and employment training. We customize expeditions for schools, corporations, or groups looking for adventure. While doing this, we are also assisting rural communities in Africa. We aim to promote meaningful tourism, one that benefits travelers and disadvantaged people.
