Location
Italy: Torino (Turin)

  • Description

The Certificate is designed for professionals in early or mid-career who wish to expand their knowledge of environmental, energy and health issues associated with buildings. The program is also for those who wish to become building industry professionals in the construction and operation of buildings.

The Certificate explores the environmental issues associated with buildings and the built environment. As well as providing a 'first approach' in the fundamentals of sustainable design, the program currently deals with critical issues of CO2 emissions, global warming and pollution from non-renewable energy consumed by buildings, and the impact of these elements on human health and the environment.

The program is divided into two parts that start from a common base on the fundamental principles of sustainability. These principles are explained through an analysis of criteria to improve the energy, health and environmental performance of new and existing buildings.

Elective courses focus on two areas of concentration. The first area, Design and Sustainability, is more 'architectural' and concentrates on the research of sustainable solutions for a building's envelope and shape, where architecture and technique are aligned to reach the best energy performance.

The second area, Technologies and Sustainability, deals with the technical solutions and management approaches to reduce the amount of energy required by old and new buildings while minimizing their CO2 footprint.

The Certificate is granted on the completion of five (5) courses for a total of fifteen (15) credits.
