St. Catherine University is the largest Catholic women's university in the United States. Founded in 1905 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, St. Catherine has earned a reputation for excellence. In 1937, St. Catherine became the first Catholic college in the United States to obtain a Phi Beta Kappa chapter, a prestigious national academic honor society. More recently, the college was named as one of the nation's top 20 small comprehensive colleges and universities by U.S. News & World Report.
Women from 30 countries are currently among the 3,831 undergraduates on our campus. We have a tradition of attracting international students to our college global education and cross-cultural understanding are an important part of a St. Catherine education. A majority of our international students receive a scholarship.
We offer more fields of undergraduate study than many colleges our size 48 major fields, 10 pre-professional programs, 9 graduate degrees, and the option to choose from 37 additional major fields available through our participation in a network of colleges and universities in our region, the Associated Colleges of the Twin Cities.
