Founded in 1885 and serving as the International YMCA Training School for much of its early history, Springfield College now offers undergraduate degrees in more than 40 majors, master's degrees in 15 fields, and doctoral degrees in physical therapy and physical education. The College is ranked in the top tier for "Best Universities  Master's North Region" by the U.S. News & World Report and offers quality programs in a full range of disciplines in the arts and sciences, health sciences, education, business, physical education, sport and exercise science, human services, and social work.

The student-to-faculty ratio is 12 to 1, and over 80 percent of the members of the faculty have earned the highest degrees attainable in their field of study.
