Our two week Chinese Language Immersion summer camp in Beijing, China is a fun and activity-filled way for middle and highschool students to learn about Chinese language and culture. It might also be the best summer vacation ever!
Language Classes
Classes focusing on listening, speaking, reading, and writing are held Monday through Friday, from 9:00 to 12:00. Everyday during the last class session, students learn about the cultural sites they will visit that afternoon. Chinese characters can also form part of the curriculum, depending the students' interests and the requests of the parents. Children learn about 360 words over the course of the two weeks. Staying with a Chinese family helps students form a vivid impression of Chinese life, and gives them a deeper understanding of Chinese language and culture. Students take a test at the end of each week, and those with outstanding performance are awarded a prize.
Cultural Classes
Cultural activities vary by instructor and availability, but may include martial arts, calligraphy, making dumplings, Chinese chess, historical stories, traditional Chinese games, famous Chinese movies, and performances of music and acrobatics.
Sightseeing
Our teachers guide children as they explore the Forbidden City, climb the Great Wall, and visit other famous sites, such as the Bird's Nest and Water Cube from the 2008 Olympics, hutongs, the Summer Palace, Qinghua and Beijing Universities, the Laoshe Tea House, the 798 Art Center, Wangfujing walking street, Antique Market, and the Hong Qiao Market and Yaxiu Markets.
Meet and Communicate with Chinese Students
Students travel to top Chinese schools and universities, and communicate with the local students at parties, meetings and social events.
Rural Outings
Students also journey to the countryside around Beijing to visit local families, talk with farmers, and learn about country life in China.
