The lodge's history goes back 100 years when it belonged to an American citizen who searched for gold. Through the years it changed owners and part of it became a traditional small dairy farm in the last decades. This is the reason why the Lodge offers visits to the traditional farm, where guests can spend a day with the cowboys and experience milking cows and even prepare their own cheese or yogurt.
The lodge located 2,750 feet above sea level, is a tourist lodge run ecologically and alongside the tourism business the owner and staff work for the protection and conservation of the local wildlife and nature.
Here at this lodge, you will have the unique opportunity to get insights into the diverse wonders and resources of the Amazon Rainforest as well as view from the tourist world from the inside looking out!
This volunteer program gives you the possibility of helping in the forest project of the Amazon Lodge. They are reforesting an area of 20 hectares with native trees and medicinal plants and plan to expand this activity to close-by areas.
The activities vary from collecting plants in the jungle, building a plant nursery and planting the collected trees, medicinal herbs and flowers, to help maintaining the work who has been done before. You will make all the work in coordination with local staff and people from the Amazon community who have vast knowledge about plants and their use.
