General Tasks:
* Maintain and improve the trail system
* Maintain and improve facilities
* Bird feeding at natural reserve
* Assist with installation of new hanging basket
* Trail marking
* Building bridges & clearing brush
* Developing & building common rest areas
* Creating a zip-line to restaurant across the river
Though work at this project is tough, involving much sweat and maybe even tears, the wildlife you will see and areas you will travel make all your effort seem worthwhile.
During your stay at this project there will always opportunities for you to develop individual projects, though your primary responsibilities will be to update and restore the three main trails of the reserves land.
Trail restoration and improvement may involve any of the following tasks of building some small foot bridges, or developing and clearing areas, designing a basic map for visitors, naming trails etc.
The slow yet efficient pace of this reserve welcomes any persons with a diligent work ethic and desire to pass their days in the Costa Rican backcountry.
With 4.5 million inhabitants and a surface area of approximately 19.000 sq. miles, Costa Rica is one of the smallest countries in Central America. Home to thousands of species of flora and wildlife, beautiful landscapes and ideal beaches, there is much for the volunteer and tourist alike!
Despite the country's small size, Costa Rica still manages to protect 23% of their lands through national reserves and parks. Hence this dense population of incredibly diverse flora and fauna need help in protecting and conserving the natural miracles of this country!
Accommodations:
* Volunteer house (holds 6 max.)
* Most likely single rooms
* House is fully equipped (though electricity is limited as itis run by solar-panels)
* Mosquito bed netting
* Three meals per day
* Drinkable tap water
Around the houses there is an area of reforestation mixed with bananas, a remnant garden in need of attention during your free time and simple remote style living!
* Language: Intermediate Spanish
* Skills: No special skills are required.
* Insurance: Full travel & medical insurance for Costa Rica.
* Visa: Usually, tourist visa is fine for up to a 3 months stay. However, we recommend consulting the Costa Rican Embassy of your home country.
