Description

Situated in an old industrial site which is to be conserved because of its historical interest, Sodra Bruket offers you six big houses containing thirty three modern apartments and one museum apartment. There are also 30 rooms in our youth hostels. We also have a mill and a smithy. All the buildings are more than 200 years old.

In older days
You can see a number of small shelters at the seaside. People working in the industry could keep a pig and some hens for their household in these small shelters. There where also common rooms for baking and washing clothes. A family of 10-15 persons could live in a small one-room-apartment and at about 1890 the company built one-room-and-a-kitchen-apartments for the families.

The apartments
Nowadays the apartments have got a modern standard, but not that modern. Many things are in the same way as in older days when people used to have fires to heat there flats and had to carry water to get it indoors and also used toilets outdoors.

The rooms in the youth hostel
In the stone house at Alunbruksgatan 6 there are 10 rooms. Eight rooms are upstairs, and there are a big sitting room, a well equipped kitchen and three WC- and shower rooms. Downstairs we have two rooms with broad doors, one WC- and shower room that is equipped for disabled people. There is also a kitchenette downstairs. If you rent all the rooms in the stonehouse, Alunbruksgatan 6, you can use the living-room as a small conference room for maximum 20 persons. There are a white board and an overhead projector.

3. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Trangsundsvagen
4. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Ölandsleden

6. Turn right to merge onto Route 136 toward Morbylanga
7. Turn right toward Alunbruksgatan
8. Turn left onto Alunbruksgatan
Destination will be on the left
