This amazing Sydney based opportunity will ensure that you hit the ground running with plenty of things to do and people to meet upon arrival. No more complications with setting up bank accounts, tax numbers, job hunting and finding a place to stay when you get there. We'll help you arrange all of that and make sure you have a good time while doing it. Get excited to make new friends and experience the tourist sites that only a local can show you!
You'll have the choice of a 7, 10 or 14 day program. Each trip duration focuses on the same 7-day adventure package with the 10 and 14 day packages giving you additional nights of accomodation at a highly discounted rate. These additional nights in the hostel will allow you to either settle in before your adventure or give you more time to explore Sydney after it! We suggest the additional days so you can also take a look at all the job opportunities offered with your new job site membership.
Highlights
Here is what will be included in the main 7 days that make up your adventure:
Monday
This first day is all about getting settled in, sorting your bank account, acquiring a tax file number (so you can get a paycheck when you land that job!) and getting your mobile SIM so you are ready for the remainder of your trip. Let's be honest, no one likes the boring stuff so let's get it out of the way as early as possible!
You'll then take a guided walking tour of Sydney, including a look at Circular Quay, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House and the Botanical Gardens -- all wonderful sights.
Make sure to take your camera -- there are dozens of great photo opportunities along the way. At the end of the day you'll meet as a group for your welcome dinner, with the food and a drink already covered!
Tuesday
Sydney is on the waterfront, and there is absolutely no better way to check out the city than by taking a cruise around Sydney Harbour.
You'll boat around Darling Harbour, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Potts Point, Sydney Opera House, Fort Dennison, Luna Park and Watson’s Bay. Take an amazing cliff-top walk with breath taking views, swim at pristine beaches and enjoy the incredible sights of Sydney from the natural harbour.
Wednesday
Head out of the city for a 3-day / 2-night trip to Basecamp! Located north of Sydney, the area is famous for its absolutely stunning beaches, impressive sand dunes and an abundance of wildlife including dolphins, whales and koalas.
Basecamp is located just a 5 minute walk from the beach which is also home to Josie, a tame kangaroo who lives on the property! Chill with Josie, take a swim or get a tan because it's time to relax! At the end of the day your group will get together for a dinner of pizza and a night around the camp fire.
Thursday
We'll jump in the 4WD and ride up to the biggest sand dunes around and try out some sand-boarding! Our only advice is to make sure you don't open your mouth when you fall or you'll be chewing sand for days. Don't say we didn't warn you! Next, take a guided bush walk to our favorite lookout, enjoy the breathtaking scenery, search for koalas in the treetops and migrating whales in the ocean if you're there between May and November. Settle down in the evening with a BBQ dinner and drinks around the campfire with your new friends.
Friday
Get up close to wild bottlenose dolphins, keep an eye out for turtles and see if you can spot whales while on an amazing Pacific Ocean day cruise. Chill out on deck or ride upfront on the boom net, while dolphins swim just underneath you. You'll head to another great beach to anchor up for a swim before heading back to Sydney where you will check in to the group hostel and spend the rest of the day seeing some more of the city's sights at your leisure.
Saturday
Starting from the hostel, take a cliff-top stroll from Coogee to Bondi and check out the 5 beaches along the way, giving you plenty of chance to relax and swim! Then back at the hostel, get all dressed up for a fun night in Sydney! Meet up at one of our favorite party bars before jumping on our Sydney Pub Crawl bus. You will visit 5 bars in the city and near the beach, receiving a free drink at each one!
Sunday
Sunday is a day to recover from the night before and continue to absorb the wonders of Sydney at your own pace. Get yourself set for the next stage of your adventure and finalize your plans for work and accommodation as your time with the group wraps up.
Optional Addition
An optional bonus for those choosing the 10-day and 14-day programs! If you plan to stay and work in Sydney (as opposed to other great AUS cities!) for a few months, you’ll make great friends and save money in a shared house. You'll be able to beat the rush of thousands of other backpackers by heading on the tour of furnished shared houses by the beach, inner city and across Sydney.
