The Government or Public School (AEIS) Preparatory programme/course has been designed specially for those who would like to gain entry into Singapore Government or Public Primary (Elementary) Schools. Primary School Preparatory Course
Admission is Competitive
-----------------------------
The primary school placement (AEIS Centralised Test) exercise is extremely competitive as many international students from Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, China, Malaysia and other countries flock to Singapore every year to vie for a place in Singapore Primary schools. With limited vacancies, foreign students who attain better grades in the Placement Test would be accepted into school.
Additionally, the standard of the English Language in Singapore is higher compared to the home country of many foreign students and foreign students are unfamiliar with the Primary curriculum in Singapore. Hence, Placement Test poses a challenge to foreign students, especially students from non-English speaking countries.
Why attend Preparatory Course?
-------------------------------------
Foreign students attend Preparatory School to better prepare themselves for the Foreign Student School Placement Exercise. Foreign students attend full-day lessons for English, Mathematics and Science. The students spend 6 to 10 months to improve on the English Language and familiarize themselves with the Primary curriculum. Students are also exposed to Mathematical problems in English as well as the Science concepts and facts in English. The subjects taught at Preparatory schools adhere to the Singapore education syllabus.
Preparatory school is beneficial to students confidence in attempting Placement Tests. The lessons also help to prepare foreign students attain better grades in the Placement Test to successfully gain admission into school in Singapore.
