    Located in the center of Siena, the Siena School for Liberal Arts offers you a unique study abroad experience in one of the oldest and most beautiful university towns in Italy. At the Siena School we offer you a vision to grow and learn in your Study Abroad experience, through a wide range of exciting and innovative courses (taught in English and Italian) and Internships in the Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, wonderful opportunities in Community Service and a variety of Extracurricular Activities.

    We work closely with the University of Siena; students with sufficient language skills may even enroll in University courses. The Siena School is also affiliated with two non-profit organizations - Siena DiversaMente and Mason Perkins Deafness Fund - and students can work as interns in the organization or participate in social and cultural projects run by them.

  • Qualifications

    Students may undertake a credit-bearing internship experience while attending the Siena School for Liberal Arts. In addition to the requirements for admission to the Siena School program, students must be prepared to complete the following components of an internship during the semester in Siena.

    1. Hours of Internship per week = 9 hours per week.
    2. Students must keep an academic journal throughout the internship experience.
    3. Students must complete a presentation and a research paper (15 pages) at the conclusion of the program.
    4. Students have a faculty supervisor (Art Restoration/Book Restoration/Social Work) and an on-site supervisor in the organization for which they work during the semester.
    5. Students complete 16 credits during the semester:
    i. Internship Course (4 credits)
    ii. Internship (4 credits)
    iii. Italian Language Course (4 credits)
    iv. Area Studies Course of students selection (4 credits)
