Severnvale, established in 1982, offers an extremely high quality, personal service. It's a small school, and we like it this way: we know every student and every host family personally. This is only possible in a very small school.

We accept up to 50 adult and executive students - and we teach in small classes (maximum 8 students - General English; maximum 6 - business English). Our courses allow specialization in General English, Business English, and Examination Preparation.

Highlights

We regularly provide English tuition for clients from major companies, including NESTLE, AENA (the Spanish National Airport company), Credit Suisse, SKF, Arthur Anderson, Deutsche Telekom, Arthur Andersen and many others. We are an examining centre for Cambridge FCE, CAE and CPE and also regularly prepare students for IELTS and TOEFL.

Severnvale has excellent facilities in terms of listening area, computers for student use, library etc. However, we believe that the greatest advantage of teaching small groups is the amount of contact time each student has with the teachers. We ensure your course is interesting and stimulating with well-designed programmes, and a timetable meaning you see at least 3 different teachers every day. Our teachers are well-qualified and experienced, and all have experience of the "real" world outside teaching. All courses also include a social programme.

The school building is a lovely Georgian house (built in 1761) in the centre of the medieval town of Shrewsbury (population 98,000). This is the "real England" - with black & white buildings; markets, museums; beautiful countryside and friendly, welcoming local people who host students because they enjoy meeting foreign people.

You won't find thousands of other foreign visitors here... described as "the town of flowers" and "the best-kept secret in England", Shrewsbury doesn't receive large numbers of tourists.

Added to all this our central location, just 1 hour from Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester Airports (and 2 1/2 hours from London), within easy reach of coast, major cities and Wales, and you are starting to get a picture of just how good it is to study at Severnvale.

During July and August, Severnvale also offers superb youth vacation courses for students aged 12-18 years, at our completely separate Youth centre (about 5 minutes' walk away from our adult/executive centre). With high levels of care, a full programme of excursions and activities, and a beautiful riverside location, Severnvale's youth courses are among the best available at any language school.

Severnvale Academy's Mission Statement

Come to Shrewsbury, in central England, and experience the real England friendly, welcoming, and not overcrowded with foreign students.
