Fall 80 Day BVI to Grenada (September-December 2000)

A great program that let me travel and explore what seamed like every Caribbean island while earning college credit that in the end allowed me to graduate from university. I really liked the hands on learning from sail handling to in-depth engine maintenance and navigation, this combined with the friends that I meet and experiences I had mad the trip such and awesome adventure. I would recommend this program to any one who is interested in travel, sailing and seamanship or just looking for a new experience.

Mini-mester (Summer 2002)

Sea-mester was one of the smartest things that I could have done during my college career. Not only did I join a network of friends who can understand one another without even having met each other, but I learned a ton. This experience provided me with skills that I simply would have not developed in regular college: interpersonal communication, and how to be part of a team. Anyone thinking about going on a trip like this should not think twice because you will learn things about yourself and the world that simply can't be learned anywhere else but aboard a ship that you are helping to run.

80-day Spring '02 (January '02 - March '02)

Seamester is one of those experiences that you know will be with you forever. And you know this before you even begin! It starts with those butterflies in your stomach the night before you fly. It is like your body anticipates the lifelong impact of this journey. It continues during the trip as you find yourself endlessly pinching your arm to make sure that those once-in-a-lifetime experiences are real. It's the sincere family bonds with the entire crew, the pure joy of climbing your first mountain, the satisfaction of completing something you thought was impossible, it's the challenges, the victories, the self-awareness and the self-belief gained that make this program one that you will never forget. Who can forget the spontaneous food fight started by Mark, or the camp song written for our boat by Margie? What about reaching the summit of Petit Piton, or the first time up on a windsurfer? Seamester teaches through experiences. I still remember all of my experiences onboard Oceanstar years after I have forgotten the lessons from my Chemistry book. Sign up now. Trust me, you'll love it!!

80 day Caribbean Sea-mester (Jan - Apr 2004)

Sea-mester is by far one of the most life changing experiences I have ever had. Traveling throughout the Caribbean and taking classes aboard a beautiful sailboat that you crew yourself is an incredible opportunity. It helped me to develop a new outlook on life and to view things from a different perspective. I walked away not only with incredible new knowledge and friends, but also as a different person. I would recommend Sea-mester to anyone who is interested in one of the most amazing once in a life time experiences you can possibly have. You will not regret it.

80 Day Caribbean Seamester (Spring 2003)

Seamester can easily be referred to as life-changing for me. It pushed me to see the world through new eyes and to question my previous definition of success. I'm a better person for having sailed aboard Ocean Star.

Fall Seamester 98 (September-December 1998)

I was a student with Sea-mester in 1998. I did this after I graduated high school and it was the best decision I ever made. It was truly life changing. Taking a gap year or a semester off is something all students should consider. It is a time to grow and learn more about yourself. The locations we visited, the friends I made, the incredible staff I learned from each day, and the courses we studied; made the experience so worthwhile. Every day was exciting and new. I am so glad I found this program. The journey I took with Sea-mester made me realize so much about myself, all of us on my voyage felt so lucky to be a part of something so amazing. I would do it all again in a heartbeat!

80-day Caribbean Sea~mester (September - Dec 2005)

Sea~mester is the best program for students who want to experience an alternative style of education and adventure. You are put into an environment where you are able to learn about yourself, team work, and the environment. Sea~mester teaches the practical skills or sailing, SCUBA, and marine biology. It also teaches unique personal communication skills that cannot be matched in any standard college program. I took off the fall Sea~mester of my senior year at Georgetown University and had to pay the price when I returned. Though it was hard to leave, I have never regretted that decision. You visit some of the most beautiful places on earth and interact with people who have similar interests. You gain certification that you can use throughout life as well as an appreciation for an education outside of a traditional classroom. Moreover, it gives you confidence and skills that translate into any area of study or life. Now that I have graduated from college, I know that the things I learned on Sea~mester make me a stronger candidate for any career choice that I make. The program is so well organized and allows the students to reep as much as they desire from it. If you are looking for a unique experience that will give you more than you will ever be able to explain, then this is the right program to consider. If you have any questions about the program, I'd be glad to help answer them.
