Join us for an extraordinary opportunity to photograph and learn about the unique charms of Southern France.
During daily excursions, we will create images from the landscapes, medieval architecture, markets, wildlife, and the cultural delights of Provence, with special trips that include the Camargue, Nimes, Orange, Les Beaux, Arles, Pont du Gard, the magnificent Popes' Palace in Avignon, and much more.
Combining personal vision and refined image-making, by the end of the program, you will have a photographic body of work that reflects the culture and beauty of this region.
We will photograph the spectacular sights of Avignon, Les Baux de Provence, Nîmes and the aqueduct at Pont de Gard, as well as the outdoor market of Saint Rémy-de-Provence, and the Camargue: Western Europe's largest river delta and home to white horses, black bulls, pink flamingos, and the salt marshes of its nature park. Several villages in the Luberon will be visited: Roussillon, famous for its ochre-colored hills and houses; Fontaine de Vaucluse and the emerald Sorgue River, and Gordes, considered one of the most beautiful places in all of France. Throughout our journeys, you will hear about the rich history of the region and have time to photograph the culture, colors and charm that are unique to each site.
In Arles, we will work our way from the Amphitheater to the Romanesque church, and continue along the cobble-stoned streets to visit the galleries and exhibitions of Les Rencontres d'Arles--the premier international photography festival in Europe. Trips to the olive orchards, sunflower fields and vineyards made famous by Van Gogh are included. Weekends are yours to explore locally or travel to the unique delights of the region, such as the beaches of Marseilles.
