  • Description

SAGE offers volunteer programs in locations throughout Chile and projects vary according to region. Volunteers can live and stay in a small rural community and work with indigenous populations, or work with youth in the urban metropolis of Santiago. Locations in Chile include: rural Palena and FutaleufĂșu in the famous southern Patagonia region; Pucon, a picturesque town at the base of an active volcano; Pichilemu which is a popular surfer destination and beach town; rural towns and nature sanctuaries near Santiago; and the modern capital itself - downtown Santiago.

SAGE offers flexible volunteer experiences in Chile for students who have graduated early, are deferring their college admission, or are current college students looking for a rewarding internship or service project. This program can be customized to suit your time frame and interests. It offers great flexibility with year round enrollment possibilities. Students can choose where, when and how long they wish to volunteer for and can customize their program to include various projects and Spanish lessons.

Volunteers in Chile may also choose to take Spanish courses and stay with local families to enrich their experience. Homestay families are carefully screened and are dedicated to creating a positive immersion experience for each volunteer. SAGE's volunteer programs in Chile are flexible, which means you choose when, where and for how long you want to go. With so many locations and projects to choose from, you may want to combine several during your time abroad.

  • Studies Abroad for Global Education (SAGE)'s Mission Statement

The SAGE Program offers high school students the opportunity to travel and study abroad as a way to gain greater understanding of themselves and the world. SAGE programs are carefully designed so that participants have a transformative experience, and so they grow intellectually, socially, and emotionally. We challenge students to move beyond their comfort zone, to think more critically about the world and themselves, and to become engaged and responsible global citizens.
