Our Chinese Language Immersion programs, with classes taught by professors at the Dali University, are perfect for all levels of Chinese Language students. The school itself is located in the foothills of the Jade Mountains and overlooks the picturesque city of Dali. Our group class program, Chinese Language Group Immersion, offers students an intimate classroom environment where they can still find the support and encouragement of a few peer students. Group Immersion is designed to accommodate almost all levels of proficiency, from students with just the basics, to those with several years of study already under their belt. The Chinese Language Independent Study provides a one-on-one classroom experience with personalized instruction with a Dali U. professor, and the chance to hone in on problem areas in your language studies. The program is designed to accommodate any level of proficiency, from beginners seeking an accelerated first introduction to the language to those students intending to major in Chinese at a university. This flexibility will allow you to continue your studies at whatever level you find comfortable. The individual attention Independent Study offers is an incredible opportunity to take your Chinese to the next level and prepare for success in honors, AP or college classes.

Chinese Language Independent Study and Chinese Language Group Immersion offer thirty-eight hours in the classroom during each two-week session, with the option to extend your stay for up to eight weeks. These programs, with the help of university professors, will give you the opportunity to untangle the complexities of this intricate language. Your class will combine focused lessons in the classroom along with time spent exploring the community around campus and Dali while applying the lessons from class with the aid of your instructor at your side.

Conversational Confidence
Your learning will continue outside of the classroom. Our program leaders have developed a unique itinerary that will empower you to take a leadership role after class as we explore and apply what you learn each morning. Tailor-made vocabulary sheets that match up to each day's activity will reinforce what you have learned at the university and encourage you to put your skills to practice. Want to ride a horse up the mountain? Learn how to ask the way! Activities might include exploring local markets, getting a traditional massage, hiking to hidden waterfalls or, visiting a breathtaking temple nestled in the Jade Mountains.

Distinctive Dali
Dali, called "Old Town" by the locals, is an ancient walled city that dates back more than 1,000 years. Tucked between the towering Jade Mountains and the crystal waters of Erhai Lake, Dali provides a comfortable pace and intimate setting where first time visitors can easily acclimate to China's culture. The Traditional lifestyle found in Dali offers a distinctive tranquility that is quickly disappearing in other parts of the country. Tree-lined pedestrian streets and small cafes and stores provide endless opportunities to shop, make new friends, and explore the secrets of the town.

Cap-Off Your Language Experience
For the committed language student, our Homestay Extension is the perfect way to finish off your time in Dali. Students who choose to cap-off their time in China, with a Homestay Extension will spend their final week living with a local Chinese Family. Each night after class and our group afternoon activities you will head home with your host for dinner and some family time before bed. Any successful language student will tell you: the fastest way to start speaking with fluency is to use the language outside the classroom as much as possible. The Homestay Extension is the best way for committed students to make sure they get as much conversational practice outside the classroom as possible during their stay in Dali.
