  • Description

    City Lights
Join us on an Amazing Race-style scavenger hunt and cultural expedition through three of Australia's famous cities. Visit Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane to soak up the cosmopolitan lifestyle and Aussie culture they offer. Combining a team challenge with sightseeing, adventure and cultural experiences, this program is perfect for city slickers who can't get enough of the bright lights of the big city.

    The Race is On
Competing in small teams, you will travel by trams, trains, ferries and feet to navigate your way around Australia's great cities. Enigmatic clues, puzzling riddles and hidden messages will guide you to the icons, landmarks, and cultural hubs of each city. Follow maps and Google clues and plan your own route through each city to beat the other teams. With challenges, points and rewards to motivate your team, you'll want to work hard to win the daily challenge and the overall competition.

Starting in Melbourne, you'll have two to three days and nights in each city. While your internal flights and accommodation will be pre-booked, each small team will need to plan its own daily itinerary based on the clues and riddles provided. With your counselor to assist you, you can expect to be actively engaged in the running of the trip and to reap the rewards of learning through experience. And with plenty of time scheduled for shopping, coffee and gelato, you will love the blend of activities on this program.

While in Melbourne, catch a game of Australian Rules Football at the mighty MCG, a huge stadium that seats up to 100,000 lively fans. In Australia's most famous city, Sydney, you will catch a tram out to the eclectic suburbs and visit the iconic Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. Learn about the history of Australia's first settlement, cruise around the spectacular harbor, and take a bus out to small coastal towns.

    All Along the Coast
As you fly farther north, you will leave the cities behind for a day to check out the waves at Noosa Heads on the Sunshine Coast. Here you will hang out with some Aussie surf lifesavers and visit Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo to spoon a 'roo and learn a little about Aussie wildlife. After a night by the coast in beautiful Noosa, you will head back to Brisbane to finish your trip. On your final evening, photograph the city lights as you stroll along the river at night, dine by the water, and reflect on a week of memories with your new friends.

City Slickers is a great ten-day experience in Australia or the perfect addition to one of our other community service or adventure programs on the Sunshine Coast or in the tropical north.
