Located north of Marton, just a few minutes from SH1 in the heart of the Rangitikei in New Zealand, this delightful battened English-style historic farm homestead restored and extended was built at the turn of the 20th century from native timber pit sawn on site. Best described as a charming country lodge, Ridgewood Farm's character suggests an arts and crafts Chapman Taylor feel featuring an exposed beam chapel ceiling, wooden door latches, battened ceilings and native timbers throughout.

Accommodation furnishings are in keeping with the era. A walk through this classic homestead with medieval-shaped doors and guest bedroom accommodation both spacious and homely may well spark your stay with childhood memories of Grandmother's Day. Start the day with a hearty farm breakfast that includes fresh organic farm eggs. Vegetarian breakfasts are also available.

Enjoy the secluded relaxation, peace and tranquility of the private native bush and large garden surrounding the homestead. Mature Rhododendron and Camellia trees planted at the turn of the 20th century provide a stunning mass of color from July to November.

Ridgewood commands panoramic views across acres of farm land to the Ruahine ranges that you can enjoy all year round. Private native bush is literally at the back door, fringing the accommodation and garden and is home to Tui's bellbirds, quail and wood pigeons. The gliding wood pigeons have been described as nothing short of spectacular.

Your guest accommodation is private with your own entrance and at ground level. Location

Ridgewood Farm is 10 minutes from SH1 and is centrally located between Palmerston North (35 minutes) and Wanganui (25 minutes). It's a two-hour drive from Taupo or Wellington, New Zealand's capital city.

From Marton township, travel north on Tutaenui Road until you reach the 100k sign. Snellgrove Road is second on your left, approximately 3.5 kilometers on and clealy sign posted with a blue bed and breakfast sign. Ridgewood Farm is the first carriageway on your right, half a kilometer up Snellgrove Road.
