Enjoy some amazing game drives in Mukumi National Park before making a real difference to the disadvantaged children of Stone Town. Get involved with teaching, playing, singing and ultimately ensuring that you enthuse the local children about their education on this rewarding program on the beautiful island of Zanzibar.
Program Details:
For your first two days you will have a great chance to see Africa's amazing array of wildlife in its natural habitat in the Mikumi National where you will have two game drives.
Your time at the project will be spent at one of several kindergarten or junior schools all situated close to your accommodation. The children are aged between two and seven years old.
During your time at the kindergarten or junior school you will be teaching lessons in Maths and English. You can also get involved with playing and singing activities. Creative skills will come in handy when planning lessons, as this is something that tends to lack in most education in both Zanzibar and mainland Tanzania. You will usually find your own method that works and may try to introduce it to the other teaching staff.
You may also have the opportunity to help with the general admin of running the nursery school though this may be outside of teaching hours.
