  • Description

    With both worthwhile volunteering and stunning beaches this program is the perfect balance between conservation and relaxation. Work with the local people on the tropical island of Koh Mannai to nurture baby turtles from hatchlings to adulthood and help protect these endangered species from extinction. Then spend your free time chilling out on the beaches of Rayong and nearby Ko Samet.

  • Highlights

    Volunteer Role:

    Four of the seven surviving marine turtle species are found in the waters off the coast of Thailand, the Leatherback, Green, Hawksbill and Olive Ridley Turtles, all of which are endangered. Pollution, poaching, coastal development and increase in fisheries have all contributed to the decline in the turtle population with the result that only one in one thousand turtle eggs laid in Thailand survives until adulthood.

    This program plays a vital role in ensuring the continuation of the species by collecting the turtle eggs and nurturing the baby turtles through their first twelve months. Once the turtles reach a year old they are large enough not to be threatened by any natural predators and so are either released back into the wild or kept to breed future generations.

    Some of the highlights of this program include:
    * Surrounding yourself with flapping baby Turtles
    * Working together with the local people
    * Experiencing Thai Island life
    * Relaxing on the white sand beaches of the Gulf of Thailand
