We offer the opportunity for volunteers to apply for an internship within the NGO. There are a number of fields in which the volunteer can work, e.g. web design, marketing and advertising, graphic design, fundraising, committee organizing, seminar planning, secretarial work or public relations. The work can be as varied and as interesting as the volunteer chooses to make it. Once the internship has come to an end all interns receive a certificate, stating the work that they have undertaken on behalf of the NGO.
The highlights of an internship within the NGO hardly need to be expanded upon. Applicants are invited to follow their own interests and apply to work in whichever field appeals to them. The work is varied and interesting. They are encouraged to make suggestions for improvement and their ideas are valued. Hours can be flexible enough to allow any potential intern sufficient time to explore their surroundings. An internship at an NGO abroad would make a valuable addition to any CV or resume, but more valuable still is the opportunity to hone your existing skills in a work environment, whilst developing new ones all the time.
To apply for an internship within the NGO a minimum stay of 6 weeks in Cairo is required. Other than this only a keen interest in one of the following fields is necessary: web design, marketing and advertising, graphic design, fundraising, committee organizing, seminar planning, secretarial work or public relations. For qualified candidates Access Cairo also facilitates employment with NGOs working with human rights, development, refugees and female empowerment. Applicants are invited to send a copy of the CV and a letter or email, outlining the position they are applying for and why.
There is no fee for the internship.

The Reach Out NGO was founded in 2008 with the mission of cultural exchange and capacity building in Egypt. Through its program Reach Out aims to build up cultural exchange between Egyptians and foreigners. This includes several features, from providing interactive workshops to organizing internships for interested students with other NGOs and organizations in Cairo. As language is key to understanding different cultures, the Integrated Human Development Center (IHDC) language program was our first project and has rapidly developed to fit the needs of those who have joined it. Here Egyptians get the opportunity to learn foreign languages directly by volunteer native speakers for a very low cost. Hence a wide range of people who otherwise would never be given the chance to develop their skills are supported. At the same time the language program provides cultural exchange for both sides as volunteer teachers are offered 2 Arabic classes a week. But as cultural exchange is not only dedicated to language our organization offers programs for art and music exchange, amongst others, to understand traditions and customs of other cultures in daily life. It is therefore a win-win project for locals and foreigners, who learn to understand, accept and integrate with each other. An essential dialogue shall be initiated between our cultures which in turn will build stronger links between them.
