  • Description

    Just among the many ways you can help disadvantaged communities in Borneo:

    * Kindergarten - Kampung Minusoh
    The Malaysian Government provides educational facilities for those over six years of age, however, before entering school, children must be able to read and write to a basic standard. Volunteers on this project and will ensure that the Kindergarten is maintained and staffed in the future . In a Kampung as remote as Minusoh, a kindergarten will provide generations of children with the chance to gain the early literacy skills required to enter into school.

    * Gravity water feed project - Kampung Tampasak
    This project will see the village have clean running water for the community. Although this Kampung has a nearby river, contamination from different industries and other village's mean that Tampasak cannot use this as a pure water source. Volunteers working on these gravity feed projects will be building dams and installing the piping to the villages so they can finally get fresh water into the village. By building these gravity fed water systems or repairing an existing one, volunteers are providing a simple and often inexpensive solution to getting fresh water into a community.

  • Highlights

    * Our permanent presence in Borneo means that we know what is needed to really make a positive difference out there. Because of this all of our volunteer projects are sustainable and genuinely needed by the communities we work in.

    * Work alongside local communities in some of the remotest and poorest parts of Sabah to Help improve education, health and the standard of living

    * Experience a unique cultural exchange by eating locally produced food, living and working alongside local families

    "I tried my hand at digging, sawing, cementing, and hammering. We completed that in the first week and spent afternoons teaching the children in the village. We spent one night in a homestay - it was an amazing experience and I really got to know the villagers and understand their culture." Patricia Malpas, venturer, Borneo

    "Imbak is a spectacular location, most beautiful place I've been in my life." Stephen Skalecki
