    ProWorld shares in a vision of empowering university students to make valuable contributions. Students can take part in this vision in Thailand through the study abroad volunteer program. The Semester in Thailand enhances students' global perspectives through a blend of academic coursework, field studies, and hands-on development project experience.

    Program courses are taught in English, and offer authentic and insightful perspectives while providing a deeper understanding of Thailand for all students involved. Community development projects, field work, and adventure activities complement classes, creating an integrated program experience.

    Programs are highly supported by an onsite staff team and welcoming community partners. ProWorld, founded in 1998, is a true leader in the fields of study abroad and international development.

    Your program includes: meaningful volunteer projects, academic classes, home stay family living, weekly adventures and 16 to 20 semester credits. Apply early to secure your position!

  • Highlights

    Real Projects... Real Experience! ProWorld's semester abroad provides a unique blend of service projects, field research, academic courses, and cultural activities. Community development projects, field work, and adventure activities complement classes, creating an integrated program understanding and a rewarding study abroad experience.

    You will study with local and international professors in English to better understand Thai history and culture, then explore that history at temples and ruins and visit the jungle or beach. You will immerse yourself in the culture through activities and projects.

    During the semester, students can expect cultural or outdoor adventures as well as project outings. Excursions may include:

    * 7 to 10 day community development project trip to Chiang Mai and/or Chiang Rai
    * A visit to the Thai jungle or beach
    * Visiting Thai artisan village communities
    * Trips to historical and cultural sites

  • Program Fees Include:

    * Intensive group orientation
    * 16 Academic Credits, Tuition Fees, Books, & Transcripts from Jacksonville University
    * Academic classes four to five days a week
    * Airport pick up
    * Full room and board in residence halls
    * 7 to 10 day development service experience in Chiang Mai
    * 400 USD per student of development project funding
    * Visits to historical sites, weekend hikes, and cultural activities
    * 24 hour emergency contact on site
    * Regular staff check ins and access to ProWorld office

    Program fees do not include: international airfare, passport or visa fees, insurance, independent travel during the program, or personal expenses. Program fees may change without notice due to currency exchanges and the unique nature of international travel.
