As the language of business and commerce it is important for English to be taught across the globe and secondary schools in Argentina are keen for pupils to learn English.
Our teaching placements are situated in the town of Unquillo in the province of Cordoba and offer you the chance to help provide a head-start for pupils in the local schools. This is an opportunity for you to be as creative as possible, help making learning English fun and enjoyable. Whether you are assisting a teacher, have a class of your own or are taking extra curricular classes, your help is greatly needed. Working at the schools is enjoyable and rewarding. Through the use of authentic materials, games and songs you can engage the students and make them eager to learn!
Throughout your placement, you will be located near other volunteers and will live with a local host family. This is a brilliant way to become a part of the local community, giving you a real insight to what Argentine life is like.
Due to the inter-personal nature of the work, this placement is an excellent opportunity to practice your Spanish. Aside from interacting with the children, you will also have many opportunities to converse with teaching colleagues and your host family. However, if you have no previous knowledge of Spanish, don't worry! There are no requirements to participate in this placement, and you will learn a great deal of Spanish while in Argentina. However, volunteers who do not speak Spanish work in private schools or in informal teaching settings, whereas volunteers with some Spanish skills work in public schools.
For your accommodation, you'll live with a Spanish speaking host-family, which is great environment for developing and improving your language skills. All the families involved are extremely supportive of the projects carried out by Projects Abroad and are keen to experience an intercultural exchange and learn about the lives of volunteers.
In addition, this project offers you the opportunity to become fully immersed in the culture in a manner which even the most hardened of backpackers could never hope to do.

As part of the global economy, Projects Abroad helps create local employment wherever we send volunteers. Employing local staff overseas and using their talents and knowledge is important to us. This local knowledge and support enables the organization to channel the skills of the volunteers from more affluent countries to regions around the world where they are needed. Volunteers also learn from their placements and the people they meet, and they gain experience in a chosen field. In the 21st century, we believe this mutual respect is what cultural exchange is all about.
