  • Description

Skilled physical therapists and access to basic physical therapy treatment are limited in Vietnam. Whether you are an enthusiastic student training to become a physical therapist or already qualified, as a Physical Therapy intern youll provide valuable support at a specialist clinic or health center. All Physical Therapy interns need to have completed at least one year of related studies.

You will work alongside a local physical therapist and depending on your experience you may be given groups of children or adults to work with independently. You may even be asked to work with your own individual patients and could spend some time passing on your skills to your colleagues.

  • Highlights

Physical Therapy interns work in a variety of placements in Vietnam. You could be based in a clinic in Hanoi that specializes in the early diagnosis and rehabilitation of autism, downs syndrome, and cerebral palsy. The clinic offers therapy and rehabilitation classes to children under 7 years old and is equipped with 16 therapy rooms and a therapy pool.

Interns may also work on an international reconciliation project that cares for disabled children and adults who suffer from the legacy of the Vietnam War. This project offers therapeutic and practical help for mentally and physically disabled children as well as their educational training and medical care. Adults who suffer from the consequences of war also get a variety of help.

You'll go home safe in the knowledge that you've made a real and lasting contribution to one of these projects and the people it serves. This program is also a chance to improve your resume, offering practical experience that may be difficult to get at home while helping the children and adults you are working with abroad.

  • Projects Abroad's Mission Statement

As part of the global economy, Projects Abroad helps create local employment wherever we send volunteers. Employing local staff overseas and using their talents and knowledge is important to us. This local knowledge and support enables the organization to channel the skills of the volunteers from more affluent countries to regions around the world where they are needed. Volunteers also learn from their placements and the people they meet, and they gain experience in a chosen field. In the 21st century, we believe this mutual respect is what cultural exchange is all about.
