  • Description

For something a bit different, why not spend time as journalism intern in Moldova? Living in this fascinating country in Eastern Europe you will have no shortage of inspiration for stories to research and write about.

This is a great opportunity for interns on a gap year hoping to gain journalism experience abroad, those thinking of majoring in journalism in college, or for recent graduates looking for experience before becoming employed. A Projects Abroad internship in Moldova will set you on the right track!

Our international journalism internships in Moldova offer you invaluable work experience and your résumé will be greatly enhanced by the practical skills that you gain during your journalism internship abroad. The experience of living and working in Eastern Europe will also act as proof of your adaptability, and give you something interesting to talk about in future interviews.

These journalism internships are also suitable for working journalists and experienced professionals who wish to take a career break or simply broaden their horizons. All journalism interns live and work in the capital of Moldova, Chisinau.

One of our international journalism internships is at the independent newspaper Ziarul de Garda. This publication tends to focus on investigative reporting, with recent articles focusing on issues such as corruption, human rights violations, and people trafficking. Interns also work at a corporate newspaper called Business Elita, which is distributed to over 6,000 companies in the Chisinau area. Working with this friendly team of journalists, you are likely to find yourself writing business related stories from a variety of perspectives: some interns have done interviews with important political figures, while others have been asked to present their own views on Eastern European trade.

If you find yourself interning at the newspaper Trud, you will be working for a record-breaking publication! Translated as "work", or "labor" Trud is in the Guinness Book of Records for having once had the largest ever circulation of 21.5 million! Further internships are at the medical journal Courier and the scientific publication Bio Synopsis

  • Highlights

Our journalism internships in Moldova offer you worthwhile practical experience of interning in a newspaper office in the capital city of Chisinau. You will generally start off your internship by shadowing a local journalist who will show you how articles are put together. You will then spend time researching your own news stories and features and conducting interviews within the community.

Your editor will be eager to hear any ideas you may have and your internship supervisor will be on hand to help and give advice, although ideas for articles should come to you easily in such a different culture. Recent interns have interviewed local ambassadors, musicians and members of the international community.

Your articles will be translated into Russian before they go to press for the benefit of the local readership. By the end of your internship, you should have a number of published articles, which you can take home for your portfolio.

  • Projects Abroad's Mission Statement

As part of the global economy, Projects Abroad helps create local employment wherever we send volunteers. Employing local staff overseas and using their talents and knowledge is important to us. This local knowledge and support enables the organization to channel the skills of the volunteers from more affluent countries to regions around the world where they are needed. Volunteers also learn from their placements and the people they meet, and they gain experience in a chosen field. In the 21st century, we believe this mutual respect is what cultural exchange is all about.
