  • Description

India is a fantastic place to spend time volunteering or interning on an international medical placement in Asia. Volunteering on a Dental project in India can be done as part of a college summer break, a gap year, a career-break, or during a vacation. As a Dental volunteer you will gain a great deal of valuable work-experience alongside some of the most skilled dentists in the country. The facilities are generally on par with many hospitals in the west.

Whether you are a student joining us before going to a dental school, or already have dental knowledge and experience, the doctors and dentists in India are eager for you to be involved. Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn - and also to help staff with their duties - will ensure that your experience is second to none.

Interning with a dentist means that you will be placed in and around Madurai. The supervising dentists at these internships are very willing to teach interns about their field and test the knowledge of those who are currently Dentistry students.

  • Highlights

India is a wonderful place to spend time volunteering or interning abroad. The Indian subcontinent, in south Asia, is a land of beauty, spirituality and adventure. From the towering Himalayas that mark India's northern borderlands through to its plains, deserts and tropical rainforests, this is a country of awe-inspiring ancient temples and colorful tribal villages.

To live in India is to participate in a lifestyle that is unlike anything you'll experience in the West. The most mundane tasks often become adventures. Everything is colorful and nothing is predictable. Life - especially in urban areas - is truly chaotic. The sights, sounds and smells that greet you in each new place will overwhelm your senses.

  • Projects Abroad's Mission Statement

As part of the global economy, Projects Abroad helps create local employment wherever we send volunteers. Employing local staff overseas and using their talents and knowledge is important to us. This local knowledge and support enables the organization to channel the skills of the volunteers from more affluent countries to regions around the world where they are needed. Volunteers also learn from their placements and the people they meet, and they gain experience in a chosen field. In the 21st century, we believe this mutual respect is what cultural exchange is all about.
