Romania
Share |

Location
Romania: Brasov

Program Duration
1-2 weeks, 2-4 weeks

Dates
Sunday July 22nd - Saturday August 4th 2012

  • Description

By taking part in our Archaeology Project in Romania you will gain hands-on experience of archaeology and learn many practical skills relevant within this field. You'll work on an excavation and restoration site in a small settlement called Porolissum near the city of Cluj.

Working at this ancient Roman settlement is a great way to learn about civilizations that have long since disappeared. Through clues, investigations, and practical research you can attempt to reconstruct many aspects of their way of life. The range of work is diverse, and though the majority of your time will be spent on site excavation, you'll also be involved in the analysis of findings, attend workshops, and conduct presentation.

  • Highlights

Your accommodation at a shared volunteer house is located only five minutes walk from the excavation site.

Your weekend will be spent exploring a beautiful nearby village surrounded by mountains.

  • Projects Abroad's Mission Statement

As part of the global economy, Projects Abroad helps create local employment wherever we send volunteers. Employing local staff overseas and using their talents and knowledge is important to us. This local knowledge and support enables the organization to channel the skills of the volunteers from more affluent countries to regions around the world where they are needed. Volunteers also learn from their placements and the people they meet, and they gain experience in a chosen field. In the 21st century, we believe this mutual respect is what cultural exchange is all about.
