Project: Swim International operates three different volunteer opportunities in their program areas:
Water Safety Education: visit local schools and orphanages and lead a program that educates children on how to be safe around water, how to rescue someone in distress and how to perform CPR.
Swimming Lessons: teach locals the basic swimming skills necessary for them to survive an aquatic emergency.
Instructor Training: train local volunteers how to teach our programs so that even after you leave your program area, your work can continue saving lives.
- Two day language and culture training/orientation when you first arrive in your program area
- An experienced leader will direct and guide your group daily through your volunteer work
- Opportunities to transcend traditional tourism as local residents help you explore your program area
- Visits to temples, historical sights, and wildlife parks
- Ride an elephant, go white water rafting, experience bungee jumping, and more
- The chance to actually save lives and make a meaningful difference in a short period of time through your volunteer work!
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and citizens of the United States. You must have a background in swimming and preferably swimming instruction if you will be teaching swimming lessons or instructor training abroad. If you do not have a swimming background, you will teach water safety education in schools and orphanages only. Most of all, you must have a passion for changing lives and making a difference!

With over 400,000 drownings worldwide each year, Project: Swim International aims to reduce the number of drowning fatalities by educating local communities in water safety, basic swimming skills, first aid and CPR. Programs are led by knowledgeable volunteers who learn global responsibility by working in diverse, cross-cultural environments.
