Volunteer in Thailand
Description
PMGY’s efforts towards community development in Thailand were recognized when we received the Thailand Green Excellence Award for volunteering in 2012. Join us in our efforts for sustainable development in Thailand through education.
Thailand is quite rightly one of the most visited countries in the world. Beautiful beaches, friendly people and great food make Thailand a hotspot for those traveling to South East Asia. However, many pass through Thailand without getting a true grasp of the culture and the true Thai way of life. Behind the popular imagery is the stark reality that over a quarter of the population in Thailand survives on only a couple of dollars a day.
PMGY supports educational projects in Chiang Mai and in the village of Ban Thin Dung which is in the Nong Khai district of North East Thailand, close to the Laos border. Each location offers a very different experience. Chiang Mai is a favourite amongst travelers. Charming, safe and with plenty of activities in the area – volunteering in Chiang Mai is a fantastic opportunity for those looking to see the sites but also get involved in grass-roots volunteer work. For those who are looking to get off the beaten track and experience the ‘real’ Thailand, we support a teaching initiative in the Nong Khai district. This program offers volunteers the chance to experience traditional village life in a part of Thailand where you rarely see tourists.
So whether you are volunteering to teach English in a school or even get some work experience on our medical elective scheme; with PMGY you can do something really special during your time in Thailand.
