Volunteer in India

Location

India: New Delhi

Description

Volunteering in India is a truly life changing experience. A country rich with a huge diversity of culture, landscape and people; India has something for everyone.

As the Indian economy booms many have been left behind. 28% of India’s 1.1 billion people currently live below the poverty line. Those who are trapped at the bottom of India’s rigid socio-economic caste system, commonly known as ‘the untouchables’, have little opportunity to succeed and so are ultimately destined for a life of adverse poverty.

We support projects in the New Delhi area that work directly with these disenfranchised groups. By volunteering in India with PMGY you can become part of a social initiative, which strives to change the lives of some of the world’s poorest people.

As a PMGY volunteer in India you are welcome to try your hand at a number of different projects during your time with us. The majority of our volunteers divide their time over multiple placements giving them an extremely broad and varied experience. Volunteers regularly travel together as well so you will have plenty of opportunity to explore India in the company of new-found friends.
