    The TEFL (Teaching English as Foreign Language) Certificate Course Objectives:
    This teaching qualification will allow you to work with our organization or to apply for ESL teaching jobs in Colombia. In broad terms, you (upon graduation) should:

    * Understand language use and analysis
    * Be knowledgeable of teaching theory and its practical application
    * Know how to manage an EFL/ESL class;
    * Be able to identify student learning difficulties and develop remedial action plans;
    * Know how to plan, design and develop effective lessons.

    The Course will train you to become an ESL teacher for both group and individual classes. The foundation of the International TEFL Certificate Course is Communicative Language teaching, a comprehensive, communicative approach to learning English. You will study teaching techniques and their practical application through supervised teaching practice.

    Teaching practice sessions will be supervised and critiqued. You will deliver prepared lessons to non-English speaking groups and One to One from none speaking countries. Feedback is always provided as this is important for you when you go solo in your teaching career.

    You will be taught how to communicate effectively using many different methods and media. The training style demands active and pro-active student participation. Your ability to work in a team is essential as the teaching practice starts with group teaching.

    What Do You Learn?
    * Language analysis and usage
    * Understanding the English language system (grammar, vocabulary, phonetics, discourse, parts of speech).
    * General English usage.
    * English for Special Purposes (ESP) used in different business settings e.g.: Law, Medicine, Banking, Finance, Human Resources, Advertising, Information Technology, etc.
    * Theory and practical application
    * Practical application of language learning theory.
    * Current EFL principles and practices.
    * Effective teaching techniques for a wide range of student levels.
    * Classroom management
    * Effective communication with students.
    * Effective use of teaching resources (e.g. books, white board, audio visual aids etc.).
    * Handling classroom routine and activities.
    * Student motivation.
    * How to deal with disruptive and problem behavior.

    Lesson planning/evaluation
    * Student needs analysis.
    * Lesson planning and time estimation.
    * Balanced use of listening, speaking, reading and writing exercises.
    * Student progress assessment techniques.
    * Evaluation of their own effectiveness as a teacher.

    Course Guidelines:

    The course runs for 4 weeks and requires:
    * 10 hours of pre-course work.
    * 100 hours of physical attendance for classroom work.
    * 8 hours teaching practice.
    * and 32 hours for homework.
    Total: 150 Hours
