  • Description

This tiny village of about 400 people is trying to get some sustainable tourism going to support the depressed local economy. This village is located on the Tortuguero canals of Costa Rica's Caribbean coast and can be reached only by boat. There are no roads or cars but there are a multitude of local guides, restaurants and lodging to let you create your own adventure. This village is off the beaten path and can give tourists a real glimpse of Caribbean small village life.

  • Highlights

Parismina has a longer turtle season than the neighboring famous Tortuguero National park because leatherback sea turtles nest in great numbers at Parismina in addition to a multitude of green turtles. A new turtle hatchery and opportunities to help out with volunteer beach patrols make Parismina a great place to visit.
