PROGRAM STRUCTURE
This non-credit program provides the opportunity to combine language study and acquire professional experience through an internship experience available throughout the year. All students must complete at least one 3-week session of language study during the program. Each program is made to measure, based on the number of weeks the student would like to intern or volunteer.
PROGRAM START
Program start: Due to the language component, program starts coincide with the study abroad 3-week short program sessions in which language classes are scheduled. The FUA Academic Calendar may be consulted online to determine when short programs start. They are offered year-round in the Fall, Spring, and Summer.
PROFESSIONAL SEASONALITY
As mentioned under Program Structure, internship programs may be extended for as many or as little weeks desired by the applicant. However, keep in mind that there are times of the year in which professional fields may be in low season or are closed, such as periods during the month of August or between Christmas and Epiphany. The performing arts sector follows specific seasonal cycles alternating between training and performing, which may determine the type of collaboration (administrative or performing) offered to students.
The internship program offers many benefits to accepted students:
- Professionalizing experience
- Community and cultural integration within the city of Florence
- A wide range of placements in unique locations
- Dedicated FUA staff for internship supervision
- Flexible program lengths

The overall program fees include:
Internship, Italian language, and housing.
Please note: Tuition costs for the internship program may be found on the application form available online at FUA. The tuition represents the Italian language course, housing, and the internship. The language component must be calculated according to the 3-week standard length of a session, along with the internship and housing price per week. For additional weeks of internship, the internship and housing price per week can simply be added to the tuition according to the number of weeks desired. Please note that internship and housing are a single cost and cannot be divided.
Longer programs: For motivated students seeking a longer internship period that allows for a deeper and more enriching experience, the internship program prices have been designed to give an incentive to longer programs. The base unit prices decreases for students wishing to remain longer than 9 week (total).
