Candidates must have completed high school with acceptable grades. College experience is preferred. Candidates must feel that they can survive on their own in a very different cultural setting. The interview is very important. We are looking for young and women who would like to immerse themselves in a new culture and who can tolerate (even enjoy!) a lifestyle that is free of most western conveniences.

The typical volunteer has one of more years of college experience. The major area of study isn't too important as the volunteer teaches at the elementary or high school level. Subjects are taught at a level lower than in the US. The volunteer is adventuresome, anxious to experience new and different cultural environments, and truly interested in helping people who are less fortunate. Many volunteers are attracted to the tropical island climate and all that goes with it.
