Group departures available in early September and January for 3 to 6 months. There are flexible individual departures throughout the year. We are now offering a summer placement.
We have a variety of projects that have evolved since our first volunteers arrived in 2000. Many people choose to teach in village schools that genuinely need volunteers. The schools are very happy, vibrant places where you will soon make a real contribution and feel at home. Volunteers support the local English teachers and usually lead the lessons after a short while. Your passions such as sport, music, drama and singing will all be hugely appreciated and many of our volunteers have built an after school curriculum based on these activities.
There are two local orphanages that have welcomed our volunteers as care workers and provide a permanent home for unwanted children. If you are interested in healthcare we have volunteer places on a local Aids awareness program as well as at a local hospital. Volunteers can now gain experience as a journalist on a local Arusha newspaper.
- A sense of achievement that you've made a real contribution to Tanzanian life; bringing education, fun and friendship to African children.
- Learning Swahili, learning about a completely different culture and becoming immersed in it.
- Experience African life as a local rather than as a tourist.
- Making great friends, from your group and from Arusha.
- Seeing elephants, lions and other animals in their natural home, climbing Kilimanjaro and staying on Zanzibar.
