Open mind projects

It was an amazing experience that exceeded all my expectations. I especially appreciated the opportunity to live and work with Thais in Isan. This gave me a chance to experience the country in a way that is impossible as a tourist. In fact, I've returned for more. Thais are an incredibly warm and generous people. They also have a delicious sense of fun that I found infectious. Teaching was a joy. This is not to say that everything was easy. Communication barriers were sometimes hard to overcome. Living conditions certainly lacked all the comforts of home. Plans often changed without notice. But I wouldn't have changed one minute of it. I had never experienced such warmth and generosity and meeting the challenges was one of the things that made it so exciting. Openmind staff were amazing. They went out of their way during orientation to give you the tools and support you needed for your placement. Best of all they helped you get comfortable with Thai culture and ways. They were also very quick to respond to any problems you encountered during your placement. You knew, in a pinch, they were only a phone call away.

While working with Open Mind Projects, I found them to be friendly, effecient and well organized. They were always open to ideas about new ways to help people. My time here was well spent and I enjoyed it thoroughly.
