Oficina de Portugues is a fresh concept of Portuguese School in Porto, Portugal. We believe that our students' immersion experience should be authentic and dynamic, not centered in a formal classroom environment, but in the whole experience of living in Porto! We come forward as an interface between you and Portugal. Our courses perfectly match our student's needs! For those who come in vacation, Standard or Intensive Portuguese. A City Break for those who come with friends and family but only have time for a weekend (soon not only in Porto, but also in other locations of the country), or even Portuguese Part-Time for those who study or live in Porto. And for the ones who want a more personal experience there's always a Tailor Made Program! All the programs can be combined with our extra afternoon activities and workshops like Reading Goups or Brazilian Culture.

Here are some details concerning us:

* Method
As soon as you get to Oficina, we'll give you a Placement Test, both written and spoken, in order to select the right class for you. Our levels are based upon the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Class is split into 2 halves: from 9am to 11am class focuses on input information, whereas from 11h30 to 1h30 pm you will be using everything you have been learning so far! Oficina de Portugues focuses mostly on your speaking skills and on practice. And we also want you to have the chance to complement your program with extra activities, like Reading Groups, Conversation Lessons, Brazilian Culture, Writing Workshops and so on! In addition to that we will be organizing visits in and out of Porto to give as insight of what the North and Center of Portugal are like!

When you finish your program you will be given a certificate of frequency at your Diploma Party stating the program you chose and the number of hours of Portuguese Language and Culture you attended.

We don't just teach you how to speak Portuguese, we want you to Learn Portugal!

* Facilities
Wireless internet, a computer for student use, library, a self study lounge, reception with coffee machine, tea kettle and occasionally some Portuguese pastry, classrooms benefit from direct sunlight.

* Staff
All teachers have a degree in language teaching and are trained at Oficina de Portugues in order to follow our own method and materials, they are student centered, communicative and focused professionals.

* Materials
Class books, work books, authentic materials such as newspapers, magazines or TV shows and films according to your level. Our lessons may occur inside the classroom or even out in the streets in case your teacher or you and your classmates think it would help. So anything may be a class material! In fact, you will be leading the last lesson along with your classmates using your own material,i.e., everything you have bought or kept during your time in Porto - your Portfolio!

* Location
The school is located in a renewed building in the most important commercial street in Porto, Rua de Santa Catarina! We're 5 minutes away from the nearest Metro Station, Bolhao, and 10 minutes from Sao Bento train station. You can easily get to the river district, Ribeira, in a 15 minute walk!
